Privacy Policy
Effective September 28, 2026
Scalzi Law LLP (“Scalzi Law,” “we,” “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and retain personal information when you visit our website or submit an inquiry through our contact form.
This policy does not govern information collected and used in the course of a solicitor-client relationship. Separate professional obligations and arrangements apply to that information.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
When you submit our contact form, we collect your name, email address, telephone number if provided, and the information you include in your message. Submissions are delivered to us by email. We may also retain correspondence relating to your inquiry.
Please provide only the information needed to explain your request. Do not submit confidential documents, financial account details, identification documents or other sensitive information through the form.
Our website and its service providers may also collect technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device information, pages visited and the date and time of your visit.
HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use information submitted through our contact form to review your request, direct it to the appropriate person and communicate with you. We may also use information to maintain website security, prevent misuse and meet applicable legal obligations.
We use website analytics to understand how visitors use the site and improve its content and performance.
We do not use contact-form information for newsletters or advertising, sell or rent personal information, or share it with referral partners for their own marketing purposes.
GOOGLE ANALYTICS AND COOKIES
We use Google Analytics to understand website traffic and visitor activity. Google Analytics uses cookies and related technologies to collect information such as pages viewed, interactions, approximate location, browser and device details, and identifiers that distinguish visits.
For more information, see how Google Analytics collects data and Google’s Privacy Policy.
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers. These controls have different effects and may not prevent every form of technical data collection.
Where required by applicable law, we obtain consent before using non-essential analytics technologies.
CONSENT AND YOUR CHOICES
When you submit an inquiry, you provide information so that we can review and respond to your request. Providing an optional telephone number is not required to contact us.
You may ask us to stop contacting you or withdraw consent to further use or disclosure of your information, subject to applicable legal requirements. Doing so may limit our ability to respond to your request. Withdrawal does not affect processing already lawfully carried out.
SERVICE PROVIDERS AND DISCLOSURE
We use service providers to host and operate our website, deliver email and provide analytics. These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services.
Information may be processed or stored outside your province or Canada, including in the United States, and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement or other authorities under the laws of those jurisdictions.
We may also disclose information with your consent or where required or permitted by applicable law, including to respond to lawful requests or protect the security of our website.
RETENTION AND SECURITY
We generally retain contact-form inquiries and related email correspondence for six months after receiving the inquiry, after which they are deleted, unless a longer period is required by law or necessary in connection with a legal dispute.
If an inquiry results in our accepting a legal engagement, information forming part of the client file is governed by separate client-file retention requirements.
Google Analytics information is subject to separate retention settings and Google’s applicable policies; the six-month inquiry retention period does not describe analytics retention.
We use safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and limit access to people who need it for the purposes described in this policy. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure.
ACCESS, CORRECTIONS AND QUESTIONS
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information we hold about you, ask for corrections, or raise a concern about our handling of your information. You may also request deletion, subject to any legal requirement or permitted reason for retaining it.
We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and explain any applicable restriction on your request. You may also raise concerns with the appropriate Canadian privacy regulator.
